A Little Christmas Cheer

Last Friday I went over to Fran's to help her add some Christmas cheer to her home.  She and her husband are hosting family for the Thanksgiving holidays and she wanted me to make a garland for her mantle and assist her in decorating the patio.

Here is a close up of the garland I made.  I used purple poinsettias with purple and gold ribbons.  LSU colors.  Geaux Tigers!!!  The gold looks a little silvery in the photos but it is really gold.

Well if you know me I don't stop there.  :)  Not when it comes to Christmas.  You have seen my home, right?  Ha ha!!!

She had decorated her trees and made a couple of arrangements.  Everything was looking so pretty.  If you know me you know I'm not going to stop there.  I asked her if she had any table linens and/or dishes she would want to display for the holidays.  She looked at me kind of funny and went along with me.  She got out some really pretty gold crackled chargers that really dressed up the table.  She had a very pretty set of china that had not seen the light of day in at least 12 years that ended up being a perfect match.  She had the perfect colored green set of glasses and a pretty set of gold silverware.

We added the pretty green balls hanging from the chandelier.  I think it turned out beautiful.

Here are a few closeup photos of the tree in the dining room.

She had a beautiful flocked tree in the family room.

The patio was done in a whimsical theme.  I think it turned out really pretty.

You can see we added a second candy cane to the tree.  Is it just me or doesn't it make the tree look taller?

She hung the pretty Santa in the corner of the patio.

Ornaments were hung at different lengths all around the patio.

Amber and Bella helped us out from time to time.  Giving us an encouraging nudge along the way.

I think everything turned out beautifully.

Hope you are having a wonderful evening!!!

Take care,

Holiday Style - The Grinch Guest Room

"And the Grinch with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow
stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so?
It came without ribbons.
It came without tags.
It came without packages, boxes, or bags.
And he puzzled and puzzled 'till his puzzler was sore.
Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before.
What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store?
What if Christmas, perhaps means a little bit more?"

Welcome to Whoville!

Should you decide to stay over you will be sharing your room with the Grinch.  Not to worry though.  He is quite harmless.  :)

The hubs gifted me with this comforter set for Christmas a couple of years ago.  I love it!  The quilt is so soft and the flannel sheets keep you warm in the cold.

Mr. W loves to wear these silly hats.  He is so stinking cute!

You can read "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" before going to sleep.

I know this wall has nothing to do with the Grinch but I love it.  The happy snowman makes my heart sing.

I originally had the presents on the floor near the Grinch but I like them so much more on the dresser.

Isn't the penguin adorable?  I love how this grouping turned out.

I think we can all use this reminder.

I added some whimsical ornaments to the Grinch tree.

Can you believe Christmas is in 38 days?!!!

The last time Mr. W stayed over night he told me he couldn't sleep in this room because the Grinch's eyes were following him.  Poor baby!  He slept in the other room.

I love this red feather wreath.

Here's a pic from the photo shoot of the kids for Christmas 2015.  I can't believe it's been two years already.  We had so much fun that day!

I hoped you enjoyed your visit to Whoville.  Oh, by the way.  I didn't buy one single new thing for this room.  :)

Is the Grinch on your list of "must watch" Christmas movies?  I have to be honest...I already watched it while I was decorating the family room.  It was so good.  I love the soundtrack.  So many good songs.

I hope you have a fabulous Thursday!

Take care,

Holiday Style - Cozy Guest Bedroom

Good morning and happy Wednesday!!!
Can you believe Thanksgiving is a week from tomorrow?  And Christmas is only 39 days away?  Oh my!

I am so excited to share our "holiday style" home with you.  Today we are in the guest bedroom.

One of the items on my "dream list" is to someday own a home in the mountains.  A place we can go to for some "real" winter weather!  :)  You can be sure I'd have lots of red buffalo plaid throughout the place.  In the meantime, we have the "lodge" look going on in here.

Last year I had what I call my "Pottery Barn" moment when I came up with the idea of stringing monogramed stockings across the headboard.  I love the look so much I did it again this year.

The plush throw is the only new piece in here.  I picked it up at Hobby Lobby for $10.  Everything else we've had displayed in other areas of our home.  This year I really pushed myself to do things differently.

The potpourri is the Smell of Christmas.  It smells amazing!  It's on sale right now at Macy's.

I love these little elves.  Aren't they just the cutest thing you've ever seen?  A friend of mine made and sold these many years ago.

I love placing a wreath on the door of each room.  You can do it very inexpensively.  The total cost of the wreath was $13.

wreath $4
ornaments $3 each
ribbon (already had)

It's even more fun if you do it in a theme for a child.  When my nephews were little, I made a wreath of road construction toys for Kam and football items for Hunter.  Makes it so much more personable. And so inexpensive.  The toys are right there waiting for you to put them in a wreath.

We have two sets of "new" neighbors near us and they stopped by on Sunday evening to see our Christmas decor.  It is so cool to see others react to our decor.  They are blown away by the smallest of details.  One of them came back and brought their MIL over last night.  The kids came back for a second time around.  I jokingly asked Brad (teenager) if he was telling everyone the crazy Christmas lady lives here?  His response was "no, I'm telling everyone how beautiful it is".  My intention all along has been for family and friends to enjoy my love for Christmas.  I am so excited to say they get it.  Down to the scent of Christmas.  Their youngest son Noah loves the smell.

Erica said on Monday (at work) all she could think about was our home.  She was so inspired she went home and started fluffing out her new tree.  I can't wait to see what she does with it!

I hope you've enjoyed seeing a bit of my craziness for Christmas.  Do you decorate for the holidays?  And if so, when do you start?  Do you enjoy it or do you decorate because you feel you have to?

Take care,

xoxoxo
